Edinburgh Direct Aid is a charity based in UK which provides aid – including desperately needed clothing and household goods – to refugee camps. Currently the focus is on a large camp of mostly Syrian refugees in a place called Arsal just over the Lebanese border. (see their website edinburghdirectaid.org)
As the full force of the harsh winter approaches in this mountainous area there is a special appeal going out for donations of any warm clothing, particularly outdoor wear and stout boots and shoes for adults and children.
If you can spare any such items or indeed toiletries etc (not bedding) I’m hoping to collect a van load as before to deliver to EDA’s depot in Edinburgh, ready to be loaded onto the next shipment going out before Christmas.
DROP OFF AT LONGFORMACUS VILLAGE HALL ON SATURDAY 20th November 10.am – 1pm.
Or you could bring stuff to the Community Café this Saturday morning (13th Nov).
If these times are not possible contact Ettie 07833 132805. I can collect if necessary
CASH/CHEQUE DONATIONS TO EDINBURGH DIRECT AID VERY MUCH APPRECIATED TO TO HELP WITH SHIPPING COSTS. Please place donations in a clearly labelled envelope and drop off with your bags.
